Tattooed Under Fire on the Austin American Statesman

Posted on 3rd May 2010 in Uncategorized

The Austin American Statesman recently featured an article about the war in Iraq. Here’s whet they had to say about the film:

“At the same seminar meeting we watched Nancy Schiesari’s magnificent documentary “Tattooed Under Fire,” filmed at the River City Tattoo Parlor in Killeen. There soldiers returning from and deploying to Iraq get tattooed and tell their stories to the husband and wife parlor owner-operators.

If you think there is glory in the kind of fighting our men and women did or that they feel they accomplished something noble, listen to them explain why they want a tattoo of the grim reaper as a young child, or of a baby in a blender. See where they are going to put the last four digits of the social security numbers of the buddies killed before their eyes.”

Director Nancy Schiesari to attend the Evergreen State College

Posted on 3rd May 2010 in Uncategorized

Director Nancy Schiesari will be in attendance at the Evergreen State College to participate in the War and Soul conference to be held at the college.

“We are a nation at war – the impact of this on our society and our educational communities has been profound.  As our nation’s veterans return to our communities, many are choosing higher education as a first step to re-orienting to our society.  Are we prepared to meet their educational needs and challenges and to acknowledge their experience and strengths?  The goal of this summit is to provide participants with new knowledge and practical skills for working with student veterans and to connect them with resources for student veterans and higher education institutions.”
